2023 State of the City Address

We are no longer taking RSVP’s for the Mayor’s State of the City Address. The event is open to the public and an RSVP is NOT required. We look forward to seeing you tonight here is additional information.

Doors to the Civic Theatre will open at 5:00 pm. Parking is available at the Evan V. Jones Parkade located at 1265 1st Avenue, San Diego CA 92101.  

For security purposes, all guests will be required to pass through a security screening performed by trained security personnel. This will include, but is not limited to: 

  • Walk-through or wand metal detection inspection; 
  • Bag checks; 
  • Visual inspection; and  
  • Other screening as deemed necessary by security staff.  

 

We encourage attendees to leave non-essential items, including oversized purses and bags, at home. Any item larger than a small clutch or wallet may be subject to a security inspection. Please also refer to our list of prohibited items below. We will not take possession or be responsible for any items removed because of the security screening process. Anyone who declines to be screened may be denied entry to the event. 

To accommodate the security screening process, we ask that you please plan to arrive on time.  

A Quick Note About Prohibited Items: 

The following list of items are not allowed inside the theatre (note: items may change without notice under the direction of security): 

  • Bags should not exceed 12" x 6" x 12." There will not be a general area to check bags, coats, or any other personal belongings 
  • Oversized bags (i.e. backpacks, suitcases, beach bags, laptop bags, etc.) are prohibited 
  • Weapons (or any item that could be harmful to others), firearms, pepper spray/mace, flares, or fireworks 
  • Outside food, beverage, liquid containers, alcohol, cans, bottles, flasks, coolers, or water bottles 
  • Workman's tools, pocketknives, or any other tools 
  • Laser pens/pointers, flashlights, glow products, noisemakers, or airhorns
  • Signs/Flags/Banners/Posters  
  • Skateboards, rollerblades, bicycles, helmets, or chairs 
  • Balloons 
  • Drugs and illegal substances 
  • Solicitation is not allowed 

ALLOWED ITEMS: 

  • Bags that do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12." 
  • Prescription medicine 

Once the address has concluded, all guests are asked to exit the theater promptly and to the concourse. If you are unable to attend, you can watch the live stream on CItyTV or tune into CW channel 6 on cable or CBS8.com.
